Optimizing PeopleTools DPK: Building the Foundation
Monday, May 18th - 13:00-16:00 CDT
In this hands-on lab, you'll learn how to extend and customize the PeopleTools 8.62 DPK without modifying Oracle's delivered code. Starting with a review of the default Hiera hierarchy and its limitations, you'll build a custom Hiera hierarchy, create bolt-on Puppet modules, and deploy a mid-tier PeopleSoft environment to a blank server — all using a pattern that survives DPK upgrades and patching. By the end of the session, you'll have a repeatable, upgrade-safe approach to managing PeopleSoft deployments across environments.

A Perfect Circle: Orbiting the World of PeopleSoft Technology Through Professional Pivots
Brad Carlson
Tuesday, May 19th - 09:00 CDT
In technical careers, we are often told that the only way to go is "up." But what if the secret to becoming an elite contributor isn’t vertical—it’s horizontal? This session explores the transformative power of the internal career pivot, using my journey from PeopleSoft Admin to Oracle DBA and finally PeopleSoft Developer as a roadmap.
While many fear that changing roles means "starting over," I will discuss why it actually represents a massive "level up" in professional value. By blending the inspirational benefits of career agility with the hard technical advantages of seeing the PeopleSoft ecosystem from three different angles, this talk will demonstrate how:
- Context is King: How knowing the other role(s) makes you stronger in the role you’re playing.
- Perception is Everything: How you view, and are viewed by, the other teams, factors into success.
- The Empathy Advantage: How inhabiting different roles eliminates silos and accelerates troubleshooting.
- Future-Proofing: Why becoming a "multi-tool" within your organization makes you indispensable.
Whether you are looking to refresh your passion or deepen your technical mastery, you’ll learn why the most successful careers are rarely a straight line—and why your next best move might be right under your nose.
Â
Peoplesoft Admin: Advanced CLI Usage
psadmin.io
Tuesday, May 19th - 10:00 CDT
PSA-CLI is the next evolution of psadmin-plus — a powerful, open-source command-line tool from psadmin.io for PeopleSoft administration. In this session, we'll officially launch PSA-CLI and walk through advanced usage that goes beyond the basics: managing domains, automating common admin tasks, and extending the tool for your environment. Whether you've been using psadmin-plus for years or you're new to CLI-driven PeopleSoft administration, this session will show you what's possible with the new tool.
Containers and Cloud Manager
Oracle
Tuesday, May 19th - 10:30 CDT
Learn about the new PUM on Containers. PeopleSoft will be releasing the latest PeopleSoft Images through containers later this year. This session will introduce you to containers, why PeopleSoft is using containers for PUM, and how you can take advantage of the new PUM on Containers.
Cloud Manager offers the best way to run PeopleSoft. In this session, we will look at the latest improvements in Cloud Manager 21 including the new Database Templates and Exascale with Thin Clone support. Database Templates introduce a new way to deploy your environments that give customers more control over their systems. We will also cover how combining Database Templates with Orchestration Manager Polices provides a complete set of tools to manage environments in OCI.
Â
Optimizing PeopleTools DPK: Automating & Operating
Tuesday, May 19th - 13:00-16:00 CDT
In this hands-on lab, you'll learn how to automate and operate PeopleSoft DPK environments at scale. Building on the custom DPK architecture from Part 1, you'll install PSA-CLI to replace manual setup steps with single commands, deploy a mid-tier PeopleSoft environment to a blank server, and orchestrate domain operations and configuration changes across multiple servers. By the end of the session, you'll have a working toolkit for managing PeopleSoft deployments — from single-server domain control to fleet-wide automation.
Open Lab
Tuesday, May 19th - 19:00-22:00 CDT
Join us for an Open Lab session. This is a lab session with no agenda. Come with questions on the labs or any other topics to discuss with instructors and other attendees!
